Intel to demo dual-core mobile platform at MWC

Intel has announced that it will show off Android devices based on its new dual-core Atom platform at the Mobile World Congress. A bunch of Windows 8 tablets are also in tow.

The dual-core Androids are based on Intel’s new Atom Z2420 and Intel is targeting the inexpensive platform at emerging markets.

OEMs will also show off their devices based on the new platform, which Intel describes as a “new dual core, dual graphics platform.”

Intel will also use the show to brief its partners on Merrifield and Bay Trail-T developments. The chipmaker has also started stamping out its LTE/4G baseband chip, but it will not have an integrated LTE design until early 2014.

A range of Windows 8 tablets and convertibles will also be featured at Intel’s booth, but details are scarce.
